Course to Process Cross ReferenceITIL V3 has many certification courses to choose from and trying to pick the right one can be challenging. According to APMG (the Official Accreditor) each ITIL V3 course must provide a specified amount of contact time per process. The contact time determines the depth of knowledge (Bloom Level) for the process in each course and is outlined in the APMG course syllabus. You can find all the course syllabi at the Official ITIL Site. In general ITSM practitioners, consultants and Process Managers should have a detailed understanding provided by the Capability courses (PPO, SOA, RCV, OSA). Anyone that is looking for an overview of a process should attend the Lifecycle courses (SS, SD, ST, SO, CSI). To help you decide which course to select we have created a helpful cross reference (see figure) that is based on the total amount of time allocated for each process for each course. For example, the OSA course requires 300 minutes of contact time on the Incident Management process and the Service Operation course requires about 72 minutes. This will give you an indication of the level of detail that will be studied. The Bloom Level specified in the syllabus defines the level of difficulty of the course. You should refer to the APMG syllabus for details or contact us.
